What’s Open Christmas Week (Dec 22–Dec 28)

A

🟡 Abstract Bistrot Paris
2nd: open Dec 26–30 + Jan 2–6 · open Dec 31 (NYE drinks) · closed Dec 22–25 (included) + Jan 1 · closed Wed as usual

Abstract is a cocktail bar first, run by Rémy Savage, built by people who care about what goes in the glass — precise cocktails, house infusions, good spirits, and a room that stays warm without trying too hard. It looks like a “bistrot” from the name, but the format is pure bar: counter, stools, a few plates if you need them, and a team that knows what they’re pouring. It pulls a mixed crowd — neighborhood, industry, curious drinkers — with a calm, steady rhythm early and more heat later in the night. Think: serious cocktails without the theatre, a bar you’d happily walk into alone, a place that doesn’t shout its identity.

Lane: Cocktail bar · House infusions · Neighborhood crowd · Industry-friendly · Late-night · Small plates if needed

🟡 Arcane 17
3rd: open Dec 22–23 · open Dec 26 (lunch)–30 · closed Dec 24–25 + Dec 31–Jan 1
Regular hours: Tue–Sat lunch & dinner · Sun lunch

Pablo Escriva’s spot on Rue Charlot with chef Sophie Léger (ex-Livingston, ex-Tuba Marseille) on a charcoal grill — Catalan/Basque plates, fish, vegetables, things cooked fast over coals. Counter up front, small tables behind, designed interior (wood, marquetry, warm light), open grill you can smell the second you walk in. Wine leans natural, cocktails are simple and direct. Tapas format, plates drop fast, works best 2–3 people, bookable for meals but you can usually walk in early at the counter.

Lane: 3ᵉ · Charcoal grill · Catalan/Basque plates · Fish-forward · Counter + small tables · Wine & cocktails

🟡 A.T. (Restaurant)
5th: open Dec 24–25 + Dec 31 + Jan 1–5 · closed Sun–Mon as usual
Regular service: lunch Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat · dinner Tue–Sat

Atsushi Tanaka (Atsushi Tanaka) runs a personal fine-dining room built on Nordic influence, French technique, and Japanese clarity — handmade ceramics, precise plates, quiet pacing. Lunch is a tighter format, dinner is the full progression. Small room, controlled service, everything stripped to essentials. Reservations online only.

Lane: 5ᵉ · Fine dining · Tasting menu · Nordic/Japanese influence · Modern plating · Online booking

🟡 Attache (L’)
11th: open Dec 22–23 + Dec 26–31 (NYE) · closed Dec 21–25 + Jan 1

Natural-wine bar on rue Basfroi run by Mathieu — short but serious list, deep bottles, and his contagious laugh carrying the room. Long round bar, à-la-carte plates, and a rotation of guest chefs doing precise, clean cooking behind the counter. Lively, loud, and built for people who actually drink wine. Reservations online; bar seats for walk-ins when they’re free.

Lane: 11ᵉ · Natural wine · Chef residencies · À-la-carte plates · Long bar · Evening only · Online booking

🟡 Aux Des Amis
11th: open Dec 23 (Noël “Des Amis”) + Dec 27–29 · closed Mon–Tue as usual except Tue Dec 23 · closed Dec 24–25
David Loyola’s legendary retro natural wine-tapas bar on Rue Oberkampf stays packed without trying — humble, no-frills, with animated regulars like international industry friends shoulder-to-shoulder catching up over killer unicorn bottles. The chalk-pen menu is written on the bar mirror every night. Lunch runs on calmer energy plus bistro plates: endive blue cheese salad with dijon vinaigrette, braised beef cheeks, duck with buttery potatoes. At night it shifts into loud, fast tapas — charcuterie plates with hazelnuts, clams with chorizo etc. dropping quick, everyone squeezed along the bar, tables, terrace, talking over one another, glasses moving, music up. I’ve been going for years; best when you want noise, heat, and a tight room that folds you in once you’re through the door. You’ll know if David is there — his laugh is contagious and unmistakable.
Lane: Industry hangout · Solo-friendly if you’re comfortable · Late-night · Chef night off · Standing room only · Open late · Closed Monday & Sunday

B

🟡 Bar Nouveau
2nd: open Dec 26–30 + Jan 2–6 · open Dec 31 (NYE drinks) · closed Dec 22–25 (included) + Jan 1 · closed Wed as usual

Art Nouveau cocktail bar from Rémy Savage on a small Marais side street — 16m² walk-in space built around the bar, no tables, no reservations. Cocktails are precision builds split by era, using vintage spirits from different decades, poured clean with no garnish. You talk directly to bartenders, not servers. Crowd is cocktail people, bartenders, and friends of the program: quiet early, loud late. Warm period-room décor, sharp drinks, open 15:00–01:00.

Lane: Cocktail bar · Vintage spirits by decade · Walk-in · Counter/stand-up · Cocktail industry crowd ·

🟡 Bar Omi
1st: closed Dec 24–25 · open Dec 26–31 · closed Jan 1–8

Arthur & Laetitia Cohen’s Saint-Honoré sushi + natural wine bar — a long faïence counter (10 seats), cinematic lacquered room, retro-Japanese ceiling by Derrusie, and a serious cellar run by sommelier Jérémy (Known locally as Shampi), sushi is cut by Yuji (Taku), Fuji, and their team: nigiri, sashimi, maki, caviar hits, DIY handrolls, and a signature soy you brush on yourself. It’s a tight hybrid — purist sushi, deep wine and sake list, and a bar built for counter dining. Reservations recommended; counter seats best.

Lane: Sushi & wine bar · Counter dining · Date Night · Purist sushi · Deep wine/sake cellar · Retro-Japanese design

🟡 Bistrot Paul Bert
11th: open 22–23 & 24 (lunch) & 26–28 · closed Mon–Tue as usual + Dec 24 (dinner) + Dec 25

Even after 28 years, this is still a packed, favorite neighborhood bistro — everyday, local, and a masterclass in classical and regional French cooking. People love the filet, but the deeper hits are where the fun is: poached eggs with truffles, rough country terrine, foie gras on hot buttered toast, grilled sausage with purée, enormous sole meunière with grilled potatoes, and vegetables coming straight from their farm in Normandy. Owner Bertrand is on the floor shaking hands — he’s known everyone here for decades. The room is loud and joyful, tables close, plates moving fast, locals and guests shoulder-to-shoulder. Deep natural-wine list, generous pours, and the kind of service energy that makes the whole place feel alive. Save room for dessert: the Paris-Brest, the Grand Marnier soufflé, and the massive cheese trolley. Don’t miss their brand new book in English – either purchased if they have a copy or online.

Lane: Classic French · Regional cooking · Natural wine · Loud & joyful · Neighborhood bistro · Packed tables

🟡 Butcher of Paris
3rd: open Dec 23 & 27–28 · closed Mon as usual + Dec 25–26 for holidays
No one’s in a hurry to leave one of my favorite hangouts, and for good reason. The eat-in butcher counter inside Marché des Enfants-Rouges is a serious natural-wine hub with counter tables where you stand in line, wait your turn, pick your cut — steak, rabbit, duck, pigeon, lamb chops — grilled with winter vegetables. I always get the MONSTER croque monsieur. Magnums, big plates, chefs, rappers, locals — great energy. It’s freezing in winter; do what the locals do: layer, layer, layer and stay all day. Takeaway is excellent if you’re in an apartment: terrine de campagne, jars of beef fat, and their own merguez. Daytime only: service starts at 12; go before 5 because the kitchen wraps and tables clear at 6.

Lane: Daytime · Industry hangout · Solo-friendly at the counter · Standing room only · Open Sundays · Natural wine · Casual

C

🟡 Le Cadoret
19th: closed Dec 22–Jan 1 · last service Dec 21 (dinner) · reopens Jan 2 (lunch)
Regular hours: 8:30–01:00 · kitchen 12:15–14:15 + 19:30–22:30 · closed Sun–Mon

Léa and Louis-Marie passed it on after eight years; the Buttes wine Snack Bar crew up the street — Clément, Pierre, and Benoît — took the keys and kept everything exactly as it was. Alice Neman is in the kitchen, and Emily Boucher handles the wines. It’s a Belleville corner bistro that runs from early morning into late night, serving locals different things at different times: coffee and croissants in the morning, set-menu lunch, apéro snacks (gougères with Comté cream and jalapeños), then full à la carte dinners — onion soup with crispy duck, whole grilled scallops with mushrooms and cream, slow-cooked beef-shoulder ragù with fraise de veau, roast duck with pumpkin and kale, half-chicken with grilled mushrooms, and sticky-toffee madeleines.

Lane: All-day corner bistro · Morning-to-late · Set lunch · A la carte dinner · Apero & Natural wine · Local anchor

🟡 Café du Coin
11th: open Dec 22–23 + Dec 26–30 · closed Dec 24–25 + Dec 31–Jan 3 · open from Jan 4
Regular service: continuous 12:15–23:00 · reservations only at lunch (Tue–Sun)

Café du Coin — coin meaning corner in French, and also the sound a duck makes (French for quack)— is one of those rare Paris corner cafés that serve a purpose for the neighborhood at different Tims throughout the day. Florent Ciccoli is the one keeping these anchors alive; he also runs Recoin and L’Orillon, both corner cafés. Long formica counter, bistro tables, big mirror, morning coffee straight into lunch, apéro, and dinner without breaking stride. The pizzette are a local legend — dough made in the moment when you order, toppings changing, flying out all day. Pure bistrot food (24€ lunches are insanely delicious and affordable) and natural wine at working-person prices, steady neighborhood energy, and a space that feels like it’s been part of the street forever.

Lane: All-day café → bistro · Natural wine · Neighborhood crowd · Pizzette made to order · Formica counter · Continuous service

🟡 Cale (La)
20: open Dec 28–30 + open Dec 31 (tasting dinner) + open Jan 1 (bar mode) · closed Dec 22–27 + Jan 2–5 · closed Mon as usual

Matthieu Lév’s natural-wine bottle shop and bar on rue de Belleville — you’d walk right past it without realizing it’s packed with local regulars. Small room, standing space plus a communal table, strong neighborhood energy. Built around a long list of bottles (about 140 references), poured by the glass or with a small corkage if you take a bottle off the shelf. Walk-ins only. Plates are simple and direct: tarama, olives, carpaccio of scallops, citrus-dressed white fish, bruschetta with peppers and chèvre, confit lamb with yogurt and fig, and a chocolate mousse. Perfect for apéro snacks before dinner elsewhere, stand-alone date night, or after-dinner apéro. Pop-up Sundays are the best thing they do — always different. Plenty of regulars mixing glasses across the table.

Lane: Natural-wine bar · Bottle shop · Walk-in · Small plates · Communal table · Late-night · Belleville

🟡 Candelaria
3rd: open Dec 22–23 · closed Dec 24–25 · open Dec 26–30 · closed Dec 31–Jan 1 · open Jan 2–6 · open daily as usual

The pink tacos neon is the front taqueria — tortillas pressed to order, carnitas, guac, frozen margaritas, counter seats, people lined up in the door. The room you’re actually here for is behind the kitchen door: the mezcal bar. Low lights, pillows, candle glow, bartenders who’ve done real time in agave, and a menu that shifts constantly but always keeps La Guepe Verte (agave, jalapeño, cucumber). Guest bartenders show up, the crowd is bartenders, industry, and people who already know where they’re going. Still walk-in only. Sister bar is Le Mary Celeste a few streets away.

Lane: Agave bar · Back-room speakeasy · Industry-heavy · Taqueria in front · Walk-in · Late

🟡 Casimir Bistrot
11th: open Dec 23 & 26–28 · closed Sun–Mon as usual + Dec 24–25
Pierre Mouquet and chef Eduardo González run this warm, unpretentious neighborhood bistrot just behind the church on Rue de Belzunce — the bells go off and you forget your steps from Gare du Nord. Morning coffee, lunch, apéro, late dinner: it works at every hour, with 20–40-year-old neighborhood energy, friends dropping in, couples, solo regulars, nobody performing. Plates are big — charcuterie, seasonal vegetables, bistro classics, plus half-grilled lobster spaghetti and beef Wellington. Natural wine from small producers, a few cocktails, and staff who act like you’ve been coming for years.
Lane: Neighborhood hang · Come-as-you-are · All-day café → late bistro · Natural wine · Groups or solo · Generous plates · Friendly service

🟢 Chez Eugène
18th: open every day · no holiday closures
In the most famously avoided tourist spot in Paris, Chez Eugène is where restaurant-industry people actually go to feel like they’re in Paris — all day into late night, elbow-to-elbow with peers, wine flowing, everyone relaxed and eating well. Terrace packed with locals, chefs, winemakers; mussels with gorgonzola, steak frites, roasted chicken. Deep natural-wine list — ask for the big book.
Lane: Industry hangout · All-day · Open every day · Natural wine · Group-friendly · Locals + chefs · Terrace seating

🟡 Chop Chop Love
10th: open Dec 16–27 + Jan 2–6 · closed Dec 28–Jan 1 · closed Mon as usual

This stretch of Faubourg-Saint-Martin is pure New-Orleans-after-midnight energy, and Chop Chop Love runs on that pulse: natural-wine producers, rappers, musicians, streetwear crews, friends dropping in from New York and Berlin, hot chefs jumping on the pass, plates flying, bottles opening fast, regulars sliding in and out like it’s home base. Walk-in only, always someone you know or someone you’re about to know. Ismaël and Ramy keep the room tight, high-energy, personality packed into one space, walk-ins only, a great groove start to finish. Tip: It sits in the same run as Le Syndicat, a World’s 50 Best cocktail bar also in this list.

Lane: Natural wine · Chef guest passes · Musicians/rappers/producers · Neighborhood regulars · Late · Walk-in · High-energy room

🟡 Clamato

Septime’s sister seafood and natural-wine bar next door — small, lively room with bar and table seating, walk-ins only, a queue at the door that moves fast. Daily-changing plates built on day-boat sourcing: sardines with smoked cream, palourdes with curry leaf, ceviche with heat, merlu with aioli, the cult Clamatarte that never leaves the board. Incredible Bloody Marys. Best hangover lunch in the neighborhood, and an easy date-night spot if you want buzz without effort. Natural wine runs deep, service moves quick, great playlist. Tip: Hit their natural wine shop/bar across the street before/after dinner service.

🟡 Comptoir Sur Mer
10th: open Dec 24 + 27–29 + open Dec 31 (take-away) + open Jan 1 · closed Dec 25–26

Olive Davoux’s tiny counter on rue Lancry is the neighborhood’s seafood stop — the one you duck into for oysters, a plateau, or a quick carpaccio. Day-boat fresh seafood with bottles of natural wine: Normandy oysters, Camargue palourdes, uni, langoustines, plus whatever comes off the boats that morning sliced, dressed, or barely touched.

Atsushi Tanaka (Atsushi Tanaka) runs a personal fine-dining room built on Nordic influence, French technique, and Japanese clarity — handmade ceramics, precise plates, quiet pacing. Lunch is a tighter format, dinner is the full progression. Small room, controlled service, everything stripped to essentials. Reservations online only.

🟡 Bar Nouveau
2nd: open Dec 26–30 + Jan 2–6 · open Dec 31 (NYE drinks) · closed Dec 22–25 (included) + Jan 1 · closed Wed as usual

Art Nouveau cocktail bar from Rémy Savage on a small Marais side street — 16m² walk-in space built around the bar, no tables, no reservations. Cocktails are precision builds split by era, using vintage spirits from different decades, poured clean with no garnish. You talk directly to bartenders, not servers. Crowd is cocktail people, bartenders, and friends of the program: quiet early, loud late. Warm period-room décor, sharp drinks, open 15:00–01:00.

Lane: Cocktail bar · Vintage spirits by decade · Walk-in · Counter/stand-up · Cocktail industry crowd ·

🟡 Bar Omi
1st: closed Dec 24–25 · open Dec 26–31 · closed Jan 1–8

Arthur & Laetitia Cohen’s Saint-Honoré sushi + natural wine bar — a long faïence counter (10 seats), cinematic lacquered room, retro-Japanese ceiling by Derrusie, and a serious cellar run by sommelier Jérémy (Known locally as Shampi), sushi is cut by Yuji (Taku), Fuji, and their team: nigiri, sashimi, maki, caviar hits, DIY handrolls, and a signature soy you brush on yourself. It’s a tight hybrid — purist sushi, deep wine and sake list, and a bar built for counter dining. Reservations recommended; counter seats best.

Lane: Sushi & wine bar · Counter dining · Date Night · Purist sushi · Deep wine/sake cellar · Retro-Japanese design

🟡 Bistrot Paul Bert
11th: open 22–23 & 24 (lunch) & 26–28 · closed Mon–Tue as usual + Open Jan 1 Dinner

In the most famously avoided tourist spot in Paris, Chez Eugène is where restaurant-industry people actually go to feel like they’re in Paris — all day into late night, elbow-to-elbow with peers, wine flowing, everyone relaxed and eating well. Walk-in only, always someone you know or someone you’re about to know. Ismaël and Ramy keep the room tight, high-energy, personality packed into one space, walk-ins only, a great groove start to finish.
