Le Rigmarole

Paris: Le Rigmarole

UPDATE: They are expecting a baby and not doing Rigmarole service until Dec 2022. In its place is a fantastic sourdough pizza spot run by their friend and legendary baker Dan Pear.

Rigmarole: Adventurous, open-minded + spontaneous eaters continue to love Rigmarole – where Franco-American Chef-Owners-Partners Robert Compagnon & Jessica Yang are killing it on the line by improvising nightly with smoky dishes cooked over Japanese binchotan charcoal.

Their menu is simply a list of seasonal fresh vegetables, meats & pasta served as tapas-style sharing portions. You just tell them what you like, and trust them to do the rest.

Expect bottles of natural wines from small producers, grilled nose-to tail protein skewers, fresh hand-made pasta bites, and desserts.

Getting In:

This 30-seat restaurant is one tough reservation. Reservations go online one month in advance. Solo diners will feel most comfortable at the bar.

The Vibe + Scene:

Professional-friendly service. The vibe is hip, laid-back, relaxed and casual. The minimalist modern dining room is dimly-lit – making it a great date night experience or with a group of close friends.

What to Order:

This is the one restaurant that I don’t need to see the menu. I have always just asked Robert & Jess to choose everything. When they have chicken sashimi and aorta – I am in heaven. Forget huge platters of pasta – these are divine little tapas-style pasta bites. Just order them all. You’ll thank me later.

Tip:

Love the gorgeous hand-thrown pottery tableware as much as I do? Jess makes them herself upstairs in her studio.
