Paris: Septime

What to know before you reserve:

People ask me if it will live up to the hype having stalked the online reservations for months. All I can say is that Septime does what it does…the experience isn’t going to be any different than if it was easy to get a reservation. Set your expectations lower than “better be worth it” so that you see their genuine pleasure in welcoming you.

Straight-talking no nonsense time. Septime will disappointment if:

…You are a picky eater, have aversions or more than one food restriction.

…It is a SET menu which means they’ve ordered ONLY the food for the menu THAT day. If you ask them (even in advance) to make all kinds of substitutions, not only are you missing the point of letting them do what they do,  you’re asking a LOT of the kitchen. In NYC maybe everyone can change the chef’s menu, but in France, good luck with that one. You are better off reserving somewhere else and making someone else’s day that literally eats everything. Even Beyonce learned, they aren’t a vegan restaurant, they aren’t a vegetarian restaurant, they are Septime. Please don’t try to change them. They are wonderful as they are.

Exception, shellfish allergy. Shellfish “season” is October – March. Ask at the time of booking so they can plan in advance, it will be too late once at the table.

Septime La Cave – Their bar nearby is perfect for tapas & natural wine.


Respect Your Reservation:

They will call to confirm your booking the day of so PUT THEIR NUMBER IN YOUR PHONE THE MINUTE YOU RESERVE… why am I screaming at your in caps? Because of 6 years of seeing people who arrived to find their table given away because they didn’t know that Septime was trying to call them to confirm earlier in the day.

Have your concierge call to confirm also to be safe…or/and in case you need to cancel, do so in advance.

If they don’t hear from you or if you don’t show up, not only do they lose business, they deny others who want to dine.

If you don’t confirm your table, they cannot guarantee your booking, and fifteen minutes after the time of your booking, the table can be replaced.
