What’s my approach?
Forget any trace of a cookie-cutter “food tour.” This is personal. My food + wine experiences are served with a spoonful of casual Southern hospitality to teach you about the food + wine scene in ways guidebooks or online research just can’t – by sharing over 20+ years of knowledge and connections. I want you to fall in love with the city’s food scene the way I have. My personality may be larger than life but I take teaching and giving you a great day out, seriously. I know that you’ve worked hard, earned time off, and want to get it right.
Like most of you savvy independent travellers, I want to get to “the” best spots but don’t have time to research the internet for hundreds of hours or trust strangers who don't share my values or taste. I’ve been spoiled calling upon my food + wine industry friends to get me to the right spots to eat & drink fast and meet fun like-minded people. It’s why I started doing this for you and I love it. Most importantly - I am NOT a “tour” person and don’t want to be with a group of strangers who don’t share my taste, going to places I’d never choose, and then eating what a guide person orders for everyone. That’s just not for me.
The food scene here is one of a kind and so are you. So whether you are hip & trendy or more traditional, I will put you in the know about what you want to know – and fast.
After working as a restaurant consultant, tv producer, and journalist in the food & wine industry for 20+ years, you can depend on me to know this city like the back of my hand. It’s my job to obsess over the newest spots every single day.
Known as the “Insider’s Insider” – Wendy is a straight-talking Southern food writer who earned her hard-won access to the international food & wine community from working as a PR & Restaurant Consultant to the some of the biggest chefs in the world and launching the first-ever USA Michelin Guide in NYC.
When this professional eater is not on epic eating trips with chefs in search of THE places to eat & drink or chronicling her eating & drinking adventures on Instagram, Food & Wine Magazine, Travel + Leisure, and The Travel Channel, she takes clients on popular private food tours in her favorite food city, Paris France.
“When we got back to the states and saw the article in the WSJ, watched Anthony Bourdain’s 100th show, and read Food + Wine / Travel & Leisure magazines – it affirmed our belief that our ‘Wendy time’ took us to the center of the food universe! Our time with her was amazing” – Peter G.
“Wendy As I’m sitting here on the plane waiting to head home I’m overwhelmed with JOY from our experience with you last night. I followed your Instagram and knew this tour was going to be special. You blew our mind. From front row seating at Clamato to tasting our first sip ever of pet nat to meeting restauranteurs we are just in awe. I’m happy to go home with bragging rights to some of the most eye opening foods and flavors you introduced us to. Our cocktail bar surprise was incredible. To a traveler who’s been to Paris like myself multiple times, if you think you know how to eat & drink this city, you are wrong – YOU NEED Wendy. You will experience Paris like never before. Wendy made us feel like her old friends. I hope you meet up with you again. Thank goodness for Instagram. With kindest regards – Sue & Jeff
Yes, she is the most expensive private food tour out there but, wow, is she worth it. Within 30 seconds we realized we’d hit the jackpot with a star. She is a natural teacher, she opens your eyes in ways you didn’t think possible, she’ll put you in the know of the real Paris food world that you never knew existed so that you see Paris through different eyes for the rest of the trip. Cliché macarons? Forget it. Try drinking wine with chefs for lunch at a wine bar that will blow your mind. She took two strangers (us), embraced them as if she’d known them the whole of her life, and educated them on le vie a Parisienne (et tout de France!) We still talk about the trip and for me, there is NO WAY we are going back to Paris without another Wendy Lyn date.
